Lucknow: In a major crackdown on admission-related malpractice, Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested a key member of a gang allegedly involved in securing MBBS seats through forged Freedom Fighter (FF) category certificates. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into fraudulent admissions across medical colleges.
How the Gang Operated
According to officials, the gang targeted MBBS aspirants seeking admission through reserved categories. They allegedly created fake Freedom Fighter certificates, which provide high reservation benefits in medical admissions under UP NEET UG seats.
The accused, along with his associates, is suspected of:
Fabricating FF category certificates with falsified lineage details
Charging lakhs of rupees from each candidate
Coordinating with document forgers to make the certificates appear authentic
Guiding candidates through counselling rounds to exploit reservation quotas
Police Investigation & Arrest
The police began tracking the gang after multiple irregularities surfaced during routine document verification by state authorities. The arrested suspect reportedly played a crucial role in recruiting students and arranging forged paperwork.
Authorities have seized:
Fake certificates
Digital templates
Communication logs with multiple aspirants
More arrests are likely as the investigation continues to uncover the network’s full scale.
Impact on MBBS Admissions
UP medical counselling authorities have tightened scrutiny following a rise in fraudulent admissions over the last few years. Officials confirmed that any seat secured through forged documents will be cancelled, and candidates may face legal action, including disqualification from future admission cycles.
Government’s Warning
The state government has urged students and parents to avoid shortcuts and stay away from agents promising guaranteed medical seats. Strict action will be taken under the UP Public Examination Act, IPC sections involving forgery, and cybercrime regulations.
