CBSE Class 12 Re-Evaluation Results 2026 Declared: Over 87% Applications Processed Amid OSM Controversy

CBSE has released the first phase of Class 12 re-evaluation results 2026. More than 87% of verification and re-evaluation applications have been processed amid concerns over the Online Scanned Marking (OSM) system.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday announced the release of the first phase of the Class 12 verification and re-evaluation results, declaring outcomes for more than 87% of applications received from students seeking a review of their board examination marks.
The development comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding the board’s Online Scanned Marking (OSM) system, which has sparked concerns among students and parents regarding the transparency and accuracy of the evaluation process.
In an official statement, CBSE said that the verification and re-evaluation outcomes are being released in phases and that the remaining applications are currently under process.
“CBSE has commenced the release of Class XII Verification of issues observed and Re-evaluation outcomes. The outcomes are being released in a phased manner, with over 87% of the total applications received being declared today. The outcomes of the remaining applications will be made available in phases and the entire process is expected to be completed soon,” the board said.
Students whose applications have been processed can access their updated results through the DigiLocker platform. CBSE has advised candidates to regularly check official channels for further updates regarding pending applications.
Concerns Over Online Scanned Marking System
The announcement follows weeks of controversy after the declaration of the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2026 results. A large number of students had applied for verification and re-evaluation after expressing dissatisfaction with their marks.
The issue gained momentum when several students alleged that the scanned copies of answer sheets provided by CBSE during the verification process did not match their handwriting. The claims raised concerns about possible answer-sheet mismatches and prompted widespread discussions on social media platforms.
Parents and student groups demanded greater transparency in the evaluation process and sought clarification from the board regarding the implementation of the Online Scanned Marking (OSM) system.
Under the OSM system, physical answer booklets are scanned and uploaded digitally, allowing examiners to assess answer sheets online rather than evaluating physical copies. CBSE introduced the system with the objective of enhancing efficiency, reducing logistical challenges, and ensuring uniformity in the assessment process.
However, the transition to digital evaluation has not been without criticism. Students who questioned their results argued that stronger verification mechanisms and clearer communication were necessary to maintain confidence in the examination system.
CBSE Assures Fair Review Process
Responding to the concerns, CBSE reiterated that the evaluation process follows a robust and secure framework. The board emphasized that all requests for verification and re-evaluation are being examined carefully before final outcomes are declared.
Education experts note that re-evaluation results can play a crucial role for students seeking admission to universities and professional courses, particularly when even a small change in marks can influence eligibility and merit rankings.
With admission and counselling processes currently underway across the country, students are being advised to download their revised scorecards and update their academic records wherever required.
Impact on Students
The release of re-evaluation results has brought relief to thousands of students awaiting clarity on their final scores. For many candidates, revised marks could influence admission opportunities, scholarship eligibility, and participation in various counselling processes.
Students whose applications are still pending have been assured that the remaining results will be declared shortly as part of the phased release process.
As the controversy over the OSM system continues to generate debate, education stakeholders are closely watching how CBSE addresses concerns related to transparency and accountability in digital evaluation systems.
The board is expected to complete the entire verification and re-evaluation exercise in the coming days, bringing closure to one of the most discussed issues of the 2026 examination season.
