Re-NEET UG 2026 to Be Held on June 21 for Over 22 Lakh Medical Aspirants

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced that the re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be conducted on June 21, bringing renewed focus and pressure on more than 22 lakh students aspiring for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate medical courses across India.
The decision comes after the cancellation of the original NEET UG 2026 examination amid allegations of paper leaks and examination irregularities reported from multiple states. The move is aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity for all candidates.
The original NEET UG 2026 examination was held on May 3 and witnessed participation from approximately 22.05 lakh candidates, making it one of the largest entrance examinations in the country. However, following reports of question paper leaks and ongoing investigations by various agencies, authorities decided to cancel the examination and conduct a fresh test nationwide.
According to official information, the re-exam will be conducted in the same format and pattern as the earlier examination. Candidates will again answer questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology under the standard NEET marking scheme.
The NTA is expected to release fresh admit cards and updated examination guidelines shortly on the official NEET portal. Students will not be required to submit fresh applications, as previously registered candidates will automatically be eligible for the re-examination.
Authorities are also planning stricter security arrangements and enhanced monitoring mechanisms at examination centres to prevent any malpractice during the conduct of the examination. Special surveillance teams, biometric verification, and stronger digital monitoring systems are likely to be implemented this time.
The cancellation and rescheduling of NEET UG 2026 have triggered mixed reactions among students and parents across the country. While many aspirants have welcomed the decision in the interest of fairness and merit, others have expressed concerns regarding increased mental stress, academic uncertainty, and the extension of the admission process.
Education experts believe that the additional preparation time could benefit many students, but they have also advised aspirants to maintain consistency in revision and avoid anxiety during the final weeks before the examination.
Meanwhile, investigative agencies continue probing the alleged paper leak network. Several individuals have reportedly been detained or questioned in connection with the case as authorities attempt to identify the masterminds behind the irregularities.
With less than a month remaining for the re-exam, students are being advised to focus on revision, follow official notifications carefully, and stay away from rumours and misinformation circulating on social media platforms.
