NIFT 2026 Entrance Test Registration Deadline Extended Till January 13 for BDes, MDes

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the registration deadline for the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Entrance Test 2026, providing additional time to aspiring design students across the country. Candidates seeking admission to Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) programmes can now submit their applications till January 13, 2026.
The decision comes as a relief to thousands of applicants who were yet to complete the registration process.
Revised NIFT 2026 Application Schedule
As per the revised timeline announced by NTA:
Last date to apply without late fee: January 13, 2026
Application with late fee: January 14 to January 16, 2026
Application correction window: January 18 to January 19, 2026
Candidates are advised to complete the application process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
Courses Offered Through NIFT Entrance Test 2026
The NIFT entrance examination is conducted for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes, including:
BDes (Bachelor of Design)
MDes (Master of Design)
Other fashion and design-related programmes offered across NIFT campuses
Students who have passed or are appearing in Class 12 are eligible for undergraduate courses, while graduates can apply for postgraduate programmes, subject to eligibility criteria.
Application Fee Details
Applicants are required to pay the prescribed application fee based on their category:
General / OBC-NCL / EWS: Standard application fee
SC / ST / PwD candidates: Concessional fee applicable
An additional late fee will be charged for applications submitted after January 13
Exam Date and Selection Process
The NIFT 2026 entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted in February 2026. The selection process includes written tests such as the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT), followed by Situation Test / Personal Interview, depending on the programme applied for.
