IIT Bombay Placements 2025 Begin With a Bang — 98 Offers, Global Giants, and Da Vinci’s ₹1.48 Cr Jackpot

    The placement season at IIT Bombay kicked off on December 1 with an impressive start, as 42 companies participated on Day 1 and extended 98 job offers to students across programmes. According to early updates shared by students, the international firm Da Vinci has offered the highest salary package of £125,000 (approx. ₹1.48 crore), making it the standout recruiter of the opening session.

    Busy First Day With Global Recruiters

    Students reported that about 70 interim selections were displayed on the first day, reflecting the high demand for IIT Bombay talent. Major global names such as GE, Airbus, and Barclays conducted walk-in selection rounds in addition to their scheduled interviews, adding to the buzz on campus.

    While the placement season is underway, IIT Bombay has not yet released the official figures for Day 1. However, internal placement volunteers confirmed that the turnout has been strong across departments.

    Day 2 to Witness Even Bigger Lineup

    The momentum is expected to continue as more than 35 companies are slated to visit IIT Bombay on the second day of placements. The most anticipated recruiter among them is Tesla, the global electric vehicle giant led by Elon Musk. Students say the excitement is palpable, with many aiming for high-impact AI and technologies roles.

    AI & Machine Learning Talent in High Demand

    According to placement sources, recruiters this year are heavily focused on hiring students with expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Developer profiles. There is a noticeably higher demand for developer roles compared to UI/UX positions.

    Companies such as Flipkart, J.P. Morgan, Barclays, Airbus, Qualcomm, and GE were among the leading recruiters conducting interviews and assessment rounds on Day 1.

    Over 2,300 Students Eligible for Placements

    Information from the official IIT Bombay placement brochure shows that more than 2,300 students are eligible for placements this year, spanning BTech, Dual Degree, MTech, MSc, and PhD programmes. The electrical engineering department reportedly has the highest number of eligible candidates, followed closely by computer science, mechanical, and chemical engineering.

    Internships Introduced for the First Time

    In a first-of-its-kind move, internships have also been incorporated as part of the placement season, significantly expanding opportunities for students. This initiative has drawn additional companies and boosted participation from students aiming for industry experience before full-time roles.
