CLAT Counselling 2026 Update: First Provisional Seat Allotment List Announced for NLUs

    CLAT

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially released the first provisional seat allotment list for CLAT Counselling 2026. Candidates who registered for the counselling process can now check their seat allotment status by logging in to the official CLAT counselling portal using their credentials.

The release of the first allotment list marks a crucial phase in the CLAT 2026 admission process for both five-year integrated undergraduate law programmes (BA LLB, BBA LLB, etc.) and postgraduate law programmes (LLM) offered by participating National Law Universities across the country.

Key Details of CLAT Counselling 2026 – First Allotment

    • The allotment has been made based on CLAT 2026 ranks, candidate preferences, category, and seat availability.

    • Candidates can view details such as the allotted NLU, programme, category, and counselling status.

    • The allotment is provisional, and further rounds will be conducted to fill remaining and vacated seats.

    Options Available to Candidates

After viewing the allotment result, candidates must choose one of the following options within the stipulated deadline:

    • Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and confirm admission.

    • Float: Accept the allotted seat but remain eligible for higher-preference NLUs in subsequent rounds.

    • Exit: Withdraw from the CLAT 2026 counselling process.

Candidates opting for Freeze or Float must pay a non-refundable confirmation fee of ₹20,000 to secure their seat and continue in the counselling process.

    Document Upload and Verification

Candidates who are allotted seats are required to upload essential documents for verification, including:

    • CLAT 2026 admit card and scorecard

    • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets/certificates

    • Category, domicile, or PwD certificates (if applicable)

    • Other relevant academic and identity documents

Failure to complete the payment or document upload within the deadline may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.

    What’s Next?

Further rounds of seat allotment will be conducted for candidates who choose the float option and for filling vacant seats. Candidates are advised to regularly check official notifications and adhere strictly to deadlines to avoid missing out on admission opportunities.

The announcement of the first seat allotment brings relief and excitement to thousands of law aspirants aiming to secure admission in India’s premier National Law Universities under CLAT 2026.
