CLAT 2026 First Seat Allotment Expected Tomorrow: Consortium of NLUs to Release Merit List and Counselling Results

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) is set to release the CLAT 2026 first seat allotment result tomorrow, marking a key development in the national-level law admission process. Candidates who appeared for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 and registered for counselling will be able to check the merit list and seat allotment status on the official counselling portal of the Consortium.
The first allotment will determine admissions to UG law programmes (BA LLB, BBA LLB) and PG law programmes (LLM) across participating National Law Universities based on candidates’ ranks and preferences.
What to Expect from CLAT 2026 First Seat Allotment
The first seat allotment will be prepared considering:
CLAT 2026 All India Rank (AIR)
Choices filled by candidates during counselling
Category-wise reservation
Availability of seats in participating NLUs
Top-ranked candidates are expected to secure seats in premier NLUs such as NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata, NLUD Delhi, and other leading law universities.
Merit List and Cut-off Trends
Along with seat allotment, the Consortium is expected to publish the round-wise merit list and opening–closing ranks. These cut-offs will provide clarity on admission trends and help candidates assess their chances in upcoming rounds.
Post-Allotment Options for Candidates
Once the first allotment result is announced, candidates will be required to exercise one of the following options within the prescribed deadline:
Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and exit further counselling
Float: Accept the seat while remaining eligible for higher preferences in subsequent rounds
Exit: Withdraw from the counselling process
Candidates must also pay the confirmation fee to retain their allotted seat. Failure to act within the timeline may lead to forfeiture of the seat.
What Happens After the First Round
Candidates opting for float will be considered in the next allotment rounds
Further counselling rounds will be conducted depending on seat vacancies
Document verification and admission formalities will be carried out by the allotted NLUs
Important Advisory
Keep login credentials ready to check allotment status
Carefully review allotted college and course before selecting an option
Monitor official notifications for deadlines and instructions
The CLAT 2026 first seat allotment will be a crucial step toward admission into India’s top law institutions. Aspirants are advised to stay alert and complete all counselling formalities on time to secure their seats.
