CBSE Class 10 Maths Question Paper 2026: Lengthy, Concept-Based MCQs; Overall Difficulty Rated Moderate

    CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 10 Mathematics examination 2026 smoothly across examination centres on Monday. As per feedback from students and teachers, the paper was moderate in overall difficulty, with a strong emphasis on conceptual understanding and application-based questions.

    MCQs Lengthy but NCERT-Oriented

A major highlight of the paper was the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) section. While the questions were not direct, many students reported that MCQs were lengthy and time-consuming, requiring careful reading and step-by-step logical thinking. However, most of the MCQs were strictly based on NCERT concepts, offering relief to well-prepared students.

Balanced Mix of Easy, Moderate and Tricky Questions

The question paper was described as well-balanced, featuring a mix of easy, moderate, and slightly tricky questions. Long-answer questions tested students’ clarity of concepts, especially in topics such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics. No questions were reported to be out of the prescribed syllabus.

    Emphasis on Conceptual Clarity

Teachers observed that the paper was designed to assess conceptual clarity rather than rote learning. Students who had practiced case-study questions, assertion-reasoning formats, and previous years’ sample papers found the paper manageable.

    Student Reactions

Many students shared that while the paper was lengthy, it was fair and predictable for those who prepared systematically. Time management emerged as a key challenge, particularly in the MCQ section.

    Teacher’s Verdict

Subject experts termed the paper as student-friendly yet analytical, aligning well with CBSE’s competency-based assessment pattern. Overall, the Mathematics paper 2026 was considered moderate, with no unexpected or out-of-pattern questions.
