Admission

National Law University (NLU), Delhi offers a variety of top legal programs, including its flagship 5-year integrated BA LLB (Hons), 1-year LLM, and Ph.D. in Law. The BA LLB program takes students with recently completed school education, while the LLM and Ph.D. programs are for law graduates and law researchers who are seeking to pursue further academic and professional excellence.

Eligibility to apply to each program varies. For the BA LLB (Hons) and BBA+MBA program, candidates must have passed their 10+2 with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD) from a NLU-recognised board. For the LLM program, candidates require an LLB or equivalent law degree and a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD). For the Ph.D. in Law, applicants require a Master’s Degree in Law with 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC) or other reserved categories.

National Law University Delhi takes applicants based on their performance in the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) Exam. AILET is the only entrance examination for the BA LLB (Hons), LLM, and Ph.D. programs at National Law University Delhi. For PhD admissions applicants, the selection process does not have a predetermined cutoff; selection is based on the overall AILET Score, research proposal quality, performance in their entrance tests, and interview performance.

NLU Delhi Admission Dates

National Law University Delhi conducts its own entrance test, AILET (All India Law Entrance Test), for admission. NLU Delhi BA LLB (Hons.) Admissions 2025

National Law University (NLU), Delhi provides a 5-year full-time integrated BA LLB (Hons.) program, which is its flagship undergraduate law program. The law course is duly approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and regularly ranks among the top law programs in the country. The course is a combination of the study of law, social sciences, political science, and humanities, thereby providing students with a strong interdisciplinary education.

Applications are only made through the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), conducted by the National Law University Delhi. Candidates must have completed Class 12 with at least 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD) from a recognised board. B.A.L.L.B. (H)

  • The candidate must have passed the 10 + 2 board-level examination from a recognized board with at least 50% in the aggregate.
  • The fee for B.A.L.L.B. (H) is approximately INR 1.38 lacs per year.
  • The course duration is 5 years.

B.Com. L.L.B. (Hons.)

  • HSC (10+2) degree or an equivalent examination thereto securing a minimum aggregate of 45% of the total marks (42% in case of OBC and 40% for SC/ST/Person with Disability)
  • The fee for B.Com. L.L.B. (Hons.) is approximately INR 1.38 lacs per year.
  • The course duration is 5 years.

L.L.M.

  • The candidate must have passed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination from a recognized university with 55% overall and 50% for restricted categories.
  • The fee for L.L.M. is approximately NR 39 lacs for law specialization.
  • The course duration is 1 year.

Ph.D.

  • For law specialization, The candidate must have earned a master’s degree from a recognized university with at least 55% overall.
  • The fee for a Ph.D. is approximately INR 73,000 per year.
  • The course duration is 3 years.

PG Diploma

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree in the appropriate specialization.

National Law University (NLU), Delhi maintains its status as one of India’s top law schools with an impressive placement and internship season across its flagship B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M, and Ph.D. programs. Almost all students of the BALLB program were placed during the placement season.According to the NIRF Placement report for NLU Delhi, Students have landed impressive salary packages in recent placement seasons. An average salary of about INR 12 LPA has been offered. Also, the highest possible salary package  was around INR 14 LPA.

In 2025, many NLU graduating students received offers from top law firms, corporates, PSUs, litigation chambers, and research positions. High-profile employers included Hindustan Unilever Limited, PwC India, Accenture, Maruti Suzuki, SAIL, HUDCO, ICICI Prudential, and India Today Group, along with leading law firms and senior advocates of the Supreme Court and High Courts. Students sought judicial clerkships and international opportunities in chambers of the Supreme Court justices or with research organizations.

Internship placements were similarly robust, with placements at the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, corporate houses, and think tanks.
