Dumka Medical College, officially known as Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH), is one of the newest government medical colleges in Jharkhand, established with the aim of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality medical education in the Santhal Pargana region.
Located in Dighi, Dumka, this institution plays a pivotal role in providing tertiary medical care and in training future healthcare professionals for the rural and tribal population of the state.

The college is affiliated with Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU), Dumka, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Admission

Admission to Dumka Medical College is done strictly through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Qualified candidates must participate in the Jharkhand NEET Counselling organized by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidate must be 17 years or older as of December 31 of the admission year.

  • Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.

  • Minimum aggregate marks: 50% for General, 40% for SC/ST/OBC.

Placements

After completing four and a half years of academic study, students must undergo a 1-year compulsory rotating internship at the attached Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital, which has departments in medicine, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, ENT, orthopedics, and community health.

Interns receive a monthly stipend as per Jharkhand Government Medical Internship Rules.
Graduates are eligible for employment in state health services, primary healthcare centers, and postgraduate programs across India.
