NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak Probe Intensifies; Gurugram Doctor Under Investigation

    NEET

The investigation into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak has intensified, with police now probing whether a doctor based in Gurugram received the leaked medical entrance examination paper before the test was conducted. The development comes amid nationwide outrage over the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination following allegations of a large-scale leak racket.

According to investigators, the question paper was allegedly leaked from a printing press in Maharashtra’s Nashik district and later circulated through a network spanning multiple states. Police sources suspect that a physical copy of the paper may have been transported to Gurugram, where a doctor is believed to have received it before the examination. However, officials stated that the matter is still under active investigation and no final conclusions have been drawn yet.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now taken over the case and registered an FIR to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged irregularities. Special investigation teams have reportedly been formed to trace the entire chain of distribution and identify all individuals involved in the suspected leak network.

Investigators have also detained several suspects linked to the case. Among them is Nashik-based BAMS student Shubham Khairnar, who allegedly purchased the leaked paper for around ₹10 lakh and later sold it onward for a higher amount. Reports suggest that encrypted messaging applications were used to circulate the question paper across different states.

The probe has revealed possible links extending to Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Kerala, and other regions. Authorities are examining whether coaching centres, middlemen, and organized “solver gangs” were part of the wider network. Rajasthan’s Sikar district, a major coaching hub for competitive exams, has emerged as one of the key focus areas in the investigation.

Officials are also investigating reports that certain “guess papers” circulated before the examination contained a large number of questions matching the actual NEET-UG 2026 paper. Investigators believe the material may have been sold to selected candidates and intermediaries days before the exam.

Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Gurugram chapter stated that no official communication has yet been received from investigating agencies regarding the alleged involvement of a doctor from the city. The association added that it would cooperate fully with authorities if contacted during the investigation.

The NEET-UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3 for more than 22 lakh aspirants across the country, was cancelled after reports of a possible paper leak surfaced. Fresh examination dates are expected to be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) soon.
