In a moment of exceptional pride for Jharkhand, Kairali School (Boys), Ranchi, has created history by securing the first position in the Pipe Band Boys category at the Eastern Zonal Band Competition, held at the Mega Sports Complex, Ranchi, on December 15, 2025. The prestigious competition was organised under the aegis of the School Education and Literacy Department and hosted by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC).
Competing against top school band teams from six eastern states—Jharkhand, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, and Sikkim, Kairali School’s band team delivered a performance marked by exceptional discipline, musical precision, and flawless coordination. Their commanding presentation and synchronized rhythm earned them the highest recognition from the judges, placing them firmly at the top of the competition.
The Eastern Zonal Band Competition brought together 15 Pipe and Brass Band teams across boys’ and girls’ categories, making the achievement of Kairali School even more significant. Pipe band performances demand not only musical skill but also rigorous marching discipline, unity of movement, and the ability to perform under intense competitive pressure. Kairali School’s students demonstrated mastery over all these aspects, reflecting months of dedicated training and unwavering commitment.
The grand finale of the competition was inaugurated by JEPC Director and Chief Guest Shashi Ranjan, along with CEO JSLPS Naveen Jha and State Programme Officer Dhirsen A. Soreng, through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the release of balloons. Addressing the gathering, Shashi Ranjan highlighted the unifying power of music, noting that despite the diversity of languages and cultures, the competition showcased harmony and coordination—values that were clearly embodied in Kairali School’s performance.
Speaking on the historic achievement, the Principal of Kairali School expressed immense pride in the students and staff. “This first position is the outcome of relentless practice, discipline, and teamwork. Our band students have shown that excellence is achieved when passion is guided by purpose and perseverance. This victory belongs not only to Kairali School but also to Jharkhand,” the Principal stated. The Principal further acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the band instructors and mentors whose guidance shaped the students into a cohesive and confident team.
