Kanpur, December 2025:
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has kickstarted its 2025–26 placement season with a historic milestone, receiving 672 job offers on Day 1, the highest ever recorded in the institute’s placement history. The unprecedented start reflects a sharp rise in industry engagement and growing confidence in the institute’s talent pool.

Record-Breaking Start to Placements

The placement drive officially began on December 1, and the tally of offers is expected to rise further as several results are still being finalized. Out of the 672 offers made so far, 627 students have already secured positions, including Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs).

Compared to the previous year, the institute recorded:

• 20% increase in the number of students placed on Day 1

• 27% rise in PPOs, with 253 offers already rolled out before placements began

This surge underscores the strong industry demand for IIT Kanpur graduates across technology, finance, consulting, and research sectors.

Global Opportunities for Students

Adding to the remarkable start, nine IIT Kanpur students received international offers, indicating the institute’s expanding global footprint and the recognition of its academic excellence worldwide.

Massive Industry Participation

More than 250 companies have expressed interest in hiring from IIT Kanpur this year. Day 1 witnessed participation from several top recruiters across diverse industries. Prominent companies included:

The wide spectrum of recruiters highlights the multidisciplinary capabilities of IITK students, spanning engineering, software development, data science, finance, analytics, and core technological domains.

IIT Kanpur officials noted that the record numbers reflect not only academic excellence but also the institute’s deepening partnership with prominent global and Indian corporations. The substantial rise in PPOs further indicates the strong performance of IITK students during internships.
