In a recent update, the organizing committee of the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) 2025 has announced a revision in the schedule for the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) 2025.

The decision comes after the postponement of the IOQM 2025 examination in regions 04 and 05 to September 28, 2025. To maintain uniformity and ensure that all students across India appear for the RMO on the same day, the RMO 2025 has been rescheduled from November 9, 2025, to November 16, 2025.

This rescheduling ensures a synchronized examination process for all regions.

Revised Schedule for RMO 2025

• Exam Name: Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO)

• Date: November 16, 2025 (Sunday)

• Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

• Duration: 3 hours

• Number of Questions: 6

• Question Type: Each question will require students to provide a detailed written proof.

The RMO serves as the second stage of the national-level mathematical olympiad program in India and acts as the qualifying examination for the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO).

Third Stage: Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) 2026

Following the RMO, shortlisted candidates will appear for the INMO 2026, which has been scheduled for January 18, 2026.
The selection criteria for INMO 2026 will be based on the performance of students in RMO 2025 as per the eligibility guidelines announced by the organizing committee.

About the Olympiad Pathway

The Mathematical Olympiad Program in India is conducted under the aegis of the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).
The multi-stage process — starting from IOQM, followed by RMO, INMO, and culminating in IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) — aims to identify and nurture mathematical talent across the nation.
