OVERVIEW

MNLU, Nagpur was established by Maharashtra Government by way of enactment known as the Maharashtra National Law University Act (Maharashtra Act No. VI of 2014) and the University is the Nineteenth National Law University located in the orange city of Nagpur.

The objectives of MNLU, Nagpur are manifold mainly to advance and desseminate learning and knowledge of law and legal processes and their role in national development. The university has developed their own Library in a very short span of time. Besides receiving donation from the Hon’ble High Court of Bombay Bench at Nagpur comprising various Law Reports and journals in addition to permitting the students of the University to use Judicial Officers Training Institute Library.

 

National Law University was established by the Maharashtra Government and comes under the Maharashtra National Law University Act. The university is the 19th National Law University in the country. The university is recognised by UGC and offers UG, PG, PG diploma, and other courses to students across the Law stream. The flagship courses offered ta NLU are BA LLB and BBA LLB.

Admission

MNLU Nagpur admission process 2025 is entrance-based. MNLU Nagpur offers UG level BA- LLB (Hons), PG level LLM, and a PhD programme. Admission to UG and PG law courses is based on the score obtained in the CLAT entrance examination. The registrations are open now. Candidates can apply online on the common official website of NLUs.

Candidates looking forward to practising Law in India, are required to clear the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) that is conducted by BCI. On clearing the AIBE exam, lawyers are awarded a ‘Certificate of Practice’ which is mandatory for practising the profession as an advocate in India. NLU Nagpur, B.A., LL.B

The multi-disciplinary B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Course. It follows clinical legal educationa and is designed as per the recommendations of Curriculum Development Committee Report (CDCR)-University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, bringing it in consonance with trends of globalization, pluralism and social integration.

  • Admission to this program is purely based on merit determined through a Common Law Admission test (CLAT) conducted by the 18 participating law schools in rotation
NLU (MNLU), Nagpur B.A., LL.B Eligibility

A candidate for admission to the B.A, LL.B (Hons.) Degree Course shall have:

    • Passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an examination equivalent thereto securing in the first attempt, not less than 50% (45% in the case of SC/ST candidates and persons with disability) in the aggregate
    • There is no age limit as per the 2017 rules

Those who do not clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks are not eligible for admission.

Cutoff

MNLU Nagpur CLAT Cutoff 2024 has been concluded for admission to law courses offered by the institute. The cutoff was released in the form of opening and closing ranks for General AI and PWD AI categories. The admission was based on candidates’ performance in the CLAT exam, for BA LLB (Hons), LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law and BBA LLB (Hons). The most in-demand specialisation out of all turned out to be BA LLB (Hons). Round 1 and Last Round closing ranks for BA LLB (Hons) were 1425 and 1685, respectively.
