Karnataka NEET UG 2025: Round 2 Seat Allotment Re-runs After Addition of 400 Medical Seats

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced that the Round 2 seat allotment process for NEET UG 2025 will be conducted afresh, following the addition of 400 new MBBS seats across seven medical colleges. This revision comes after an updated seat matrix was released, giving aspirants another chance to secure admission.
What Changed & Why
A total of 400 additional MBBS seats have been introduced in Round 2 counselling, distributed among seven private, minority, and deemed universities in Karnataka.
KEA has reopened the option entry process, allowing candidates to reorder or modify their choices to take advantage of the newly available seats.
All candidates who participated earlier in Round 2 will find their previous entries visible on the KEA portal, but they must re-confirm fee details and submit updated options.

Eligibility:
Candidates who had accepted seats in Round 1 (Choice-2) after paying the caution deposit of ₹1 lakh can modify or delete options.
Candidates who paid the deposit but did not secure a medical seat earlier, or were allotted AYUSH seats, must confirm payment and re-enter options if they wish to participate.
AYUSH Courses: Students who did not get AYUSH allotments earlier but had submitted preferences remain eligible in this round.
Result & Reporting: A revised seat allotment result will be published after option entry closes, and candidates will have to report to the allotted colleges with the required documents.
Implications for Aspirants
Increased Opportunities: With 400 extra MBBS seats, students who missed out earlier now stand a better chance of securing admission.
Possible Lower Cutoffs: The additional availability is expected to ease competition slightly, bringing down cut-off ranks in some colleges.
Quick Action Needed: Candidates must act within the short window provided for reordering choices to avoid missing this chance.
Be Document Ready: Essential certificates including NEET UG scorecard, academic records, caste/domicile certificates, and payment receipts must be ready for reporting once allotment is declared.
Bigger Picture
The addition of these seats is part of Karnataka’s larger expansion of MBBS capacity for the 2025-26 academic year. Alongside new approvals from the National Medical Commission (NMC), the state has also introduced a 15% NRI quota in government medical colleges. Together, these measures are aimed at expanding access to medical education while meeting the growing demand for doctors.
