ICAR 2025 Counselling opens on September 2; official cites NTA result data, extension requests for delay
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will finally begin the Undergraduate Admission Counselling 2025 from September 2. The process, originally expected to start in August, was postponed due to verification of result data shared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and extension requests raised by several states and universities.
Technical reasons behind the delay
According to ICAR officials, the primary reason for rescheduling was the need to cross-verify the result data provided by NTA. Since the data directly determines students’ eligibility, ranks, and seat allotments, the authorities carried out multiple rounds of validation to avoid any errors.

In addition, a number of states and agricultural universities requested ICAR to push back the counselling timeline. The concern raised was that local admission schedules were clashing with the ICAR counselling dates, which could have led to confusion and inconvenience for students.

The ICAR 2025 counselling will begin on September 2 in a phased manner. The process includes registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting, all to be conducted through the official online portal. Students are advised to check notifications on the website regularly to avoid missing important deadlines.
