Delhi University Announces Mop-Up Round UG Admissions 2025 Based on Class 12 Marks

    DU UG mop-up counselling 2025

The University of Delhi (DU) has announced a mop-up round for undergraduate (UG) admissions 2025, offering another opportunity to students who could not secure seats in earlier rounds. Unlike the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) rounds that were based on CUET-UG scores, this special mop-up round will be conducted on the basis of Class 12 marks.

    Why a Mop-Up Round?

The decision comes after DU noticed a number of vacant seats across various colleges and programmes despite multiple rounds of CSAS counselling. To ensure maximum seat utilization and inclusivity, the university has opted for this additional round.

According to DU officials, this move aims to accommodate students who may have missed out on CUET or were unable to participate in earlier counselling due to various reasons.

Key Details of DU Mop-Up Round 2025

    • Mode of Admission: Class 12 marks (instead of CUET-UG scores).

    • Eligibility: Candidates who did not get a seat in previous CSAS rounds or who were left out of the admission process.

    • Application Process: Students will need to register on the DU admission portal and upload their Class 12 mark sheets.

    • Seat Availability: Limited to the number of vacant seats in participating colleges.

    • Merit List: A separate merit list will be released based on Class 12 performance.

A Special Opportunity for Non-CUET Students

This round is expected to benefit students from state boards and those who could not appear for CUET-UG 2025. However, DU clarified that preference will still be given to CUET-qualified candidates wherever applicable, and the mop-up is only a special one-time measure to fill leftover seats.

    What Students Should Do

    Applicants are advised to:

    • Visit the DU admission portal (admission.uod.ac.in) for registration.

    • Keep Class 12 mark sheets and other documents ready.

    • Track official announcements regarding the registration deadline and merit list dates.

    Expert View

Education experts have welcomed the move, noting that while CUET ensures a uniform evaluation system, this mop-up round gives a fair chance to students who may have missed earlier opportunities. However, they also cautioned that competition will remain tough as Class 12 marks vary across boards.
